STUDENT RECITALS - RULES AND REGULATIONS

 

ELEGIBILITY 

    • Participating teachers must be members in good standing from:
      • the Vancouver/Burnaby Branch,
      • the Vancouver/Burnaby Student Teacher Auxiliary.
    • Participants may be students of any discipline from preparatory to senior levels, who are studying with an eligible teacher at the time of registration.

GENERAL

  1. ENTRIES
    • NO CHANGES to repertoire will be allowed once entries have been submitted.
    • Teachers may submit up to 5 student submission and total performance time of all students cannot exceed 10 minutes.
    • Only one piano will be available on site.
  2. PROGRAM
    • The Program will be emailed to participating teachers for distribution to their students. It is the responsibility of teachers and participants to check the program for their time
    • There will be no changes to the time of any performance.
    • Spelling corrections will be accepted for 7 days after the program is sent to teachers, please email recital.bcrmta.vanbby@gmail.com
  3. TEACHER PARTICIPATION
    • Teachers of participants are expected to assistant during the recitals
    • Information will be sent to the teacher once the entry deadline has passed.
    • Teachers are expected to notify students that NO VIDEO TAPING OR RECORDING at ANY TIME during the recitals; pictures may be taken after the recital is finished
    • Teachers are expected to instruct students on stage deportment (bow, walking, no running) and respectful behavior (no speaking or whispering during other performances).

REPERTOIRE

  1. Repertoire Requirements
    • Recital pieces chosen should be fairly short and inspiring with a 5 minute maximum playing time.
    • Memory is compulsory except the case of accompanists, who must bring original scores.
    • Participants MUST play without repeats except in the case of da capos.
    • Each participant is allowed to play ONE piece or a single movement from a multi‐movement work except for Level 2 or below, in which case they are allowed to play TWO pieces.
    • The level should be from prep/Level 1 to ARCT levels.
    • Ensembles are welcome

PROCEDURES

Suitable dress is required. Appropriate attire is required for ALL performers: boys ‐ shirts, dress pants, dress shoes; girls ‐ shirts/blouses, dresses, dress pants, dress shoes. Performance will be prohibited if the dress code is not observed.

  1. Please try to keep cancellations to a minimum, any withdrawals must be made at least 48 hours with the Recital Convenor.
  2. Participants must arrive at 10-15 minutes prior to recital start time.
